Abstract

Historically, front line staff perceive that workplace violence is part of the job and must be tolerated. The project focuses on changing staff perception, related to the efficacy of the hospital’s workplace violence program. Late Breaking Reason: Most workplace violence publications focus on emergency room and behavior health areas. This project branched out to the acute care medsurg areas. Workplace violence events have a great impact on the acute care med/surg staff and their perception of safety on the unit.
