Abstract

Developing cultural humility is an important skill for anyone working in the health professions. This trip working with refugee populations in Greece offered twelve students the opportunity to participate in a cross cultural experience that changed their perspectives and significantly impacted their view of global health and trauma informed care. Nurses need to be culturally aware, humble and willing to learn. This research offers insight to how a 10 day outreach trip impacted the students lives and ultimately their practices. In addition, understanding "trauma informed care" is timely for nurses to learn about and applicable to our cultural climate today.
