Abstract
Special Session presented on: Monday, November 18, 2013:
Has a thorny situation at work gotten so troublesome you think about resigning? Does worry about your relationships with colleagues or students keep you up at night, make it hard to get up in the morning, or diminish your desire to go to work? Do you find yourself eating too much and exercising too little? If you wish there was someone wise in the ways of civility to speak with about all this, here's your chance. This special session brings 3 pioneering researchers and thought leaders in the field of civility together for the first time on an international "live stage." There's little these 3 have not lived, studied, or heard when it comes to getting professional joys stolen by incivilities, whether in academic or service settings, large and small, public or private. So come with your dilemmas, interventions that work, and inspirations for a collaborative future to enliven what promises to be an unforgettable dialogue about cultivating civility and co-creating workplaces that are both productive and pleasurable.
