The Indiana University Nursing Learning Partnership
Abstract
Special Session presented on: Sunday, November 17, 2013: The formal partnership, led by Dean Marion E. Broome and Executive Vice President Linda Q. Everett, is guided by the Indiana University Nurse Learning Partnership (IUNLP) model which depicts the resources, linkages and outcomes that support and flow from the partnership. The model has five components: Exemplary Nurse Practice, Transformative Learning Experiences, Transformational leadership, Knowledge Generation/Translation/Application and Resources. The evolution of this partnership, which is five years old, began with leaders coming together to discuss common faculty and practice points of intersection at this time. Over a two-year period, monthly meetings of this group resulted in the IUNLP model that captured both the actual and desired aspects of the partnership. Since 2011, we have continued to develop common initiatives including: The Advanced Practice Institute to build EBP and research skills for APNs; Transformative learning experiences for students including DPN students working with units on identified practice changes; shared faculty who teach in the BSN program and faculty consultations for five hospital research councils. Scholarly and operational outcomes as a result of this partnership will be presented.
