Abstract
Nursing turnover is an undesirable trend for healthcare facilities, especially in the midst of a critical nursing shortage. Improving nurse retention was the focus on the synthesis project, specifically related to flexible scheduling mechanisms. Self-scheduling was introduced, as a form of flexible scheduling, as a strategy to improve nurse retention.
