Abstract

The Nursing Cognitive Aptitude Model (NCAM) was tested to determine if expanding standardized admission testing to include critical thinking ability was predictive of first semester nursing program academic success. The model was supported in this study with critical thinking ability being the best predictor of student retention and academic progression.
