Abstract

The Pre-Admission Nursing Practice Model (PNPM) was developed to change the delivery of nursing care to patients preparing for surgery. The generation of the PNPM was guided by nursing knowledge, specifically Rogerian science, Newman's Health as Expanding Consciousness and Watson' theory of Transpersonal Caring. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the model on patient and nurse perceptions and experiences following exposure to the PNPM across the perioperative period.
