Abstract
The purpose of this investigation was to assess the deleterious, psychosocial effects of the sickle cell disease process on children between the ages of 6 and 14 years. The problem involves the stressful nature of sickle cell disease (physically and psychologically) and the need to investigate the association between the moderating variables (social support) and the frequency of sickle cell crises.
