Abstract

The Emergency room is intended for emergent or life-saving medical needs that cannot be met elsewhere. The increased number of adults seeking non-emergent healthcare may reflect a lack of knowledge in understanding when to seek primary care, urgent care, or emergency department services as the point of access for healthcare.
