Eliminating catheter-associated urinary tract infections: Implementing a quality improvement project
Abstract
A catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) can extend a patient's hospital stay by two days and increase the cost of their care. The complications associated with indwelling urinary catheter and the increases in hospital-acquired infections are a continual challenge to quality care.
