Abstract

Psychiatric disorders contribute significantly to the global disease burden resulting in increased morbidity and mortality in affected individuals. Approximately half of patients with psychiatric illness are nonadherent with psychotropics due to a multitude of factors (Semahegn et al., 2020). The purpose of this quality improvement project is to assess staff knowledge of medication adherence in the psychiatric patient, assess patient medication adherence (MARS) on intake, and provide a medication adherence toolkit with resources for adult patients in a psychiatric intensive outpatient program.
