Abstract

The nation's ongoing shortage of nurses is reaching a crisis level as the demand for healthcare services continues to increase and the number of nurses decreases. The nursing shortage is due in part to decreased nursing school enrollment, an aging nursing workforce and high nursing turnover as a result of job burnout and dissatisfaction. Accordingly, recruitment and retention of nurses continue to be critical issues in healthcare as nurse attrition affects an institution's patient, staff, and financial outcomes
