Abstract
The nursing program at a community college in Texas had a steady decrease in National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®) and Health Education Systems, Incorporated (HESI) scores for the past five years. After making several changes in the program, HESI scores continued to be low. In 2012, the school built a new state of the art high fidelity simulation lab. The faculty considered high fidelity simulation (HFS) as a possible solution to improve the scores. The purpose of this project was to examine whether the integration of HFS with traditional clinical learning experiences would increase the students' performance on the HESI, therefore, this project was undertaken to compare the HESI scores of two groups of nursing students: the combination group and the traditional group.
