Abstract

Simulation is an effective teaching method that improves learning, enhances clinical decision making processes, increases confidence in nursing practice and allows for mistakes without harm to patients. An identified need to develop teaching strategies to aid nursing students transfer theoretical knowledge to clinical practice at a community college nursing program. A clinical improvement project was implemented to assess if simulation enhanced knowledge acquisition in the community health portion of the course that translates to the clinical application evaluated via a computerized proctered exam. Simulation proved to be an effective tool to improve the transference of theoretical knowledge to clinical practice.
