Abstract

Health care professionals are at risk for developing compassion fatigue and burnout, which creates a decrease in productivity, increases the risk for medication and medical errors, and decreases the overall morale. The World Health Organization recognizes burnout to be an occupational phenomenon that results from exposure to chronic workplace stress and is a significant concern for employee and patient outcomes. The aim of this quality improvement project is to utilize mindfulness through guided imagery to reduce burnout and compassion fatigue.
