Abstract

In 2011, The Future of Nursing report made the bold recommendation to increase bachelor's-prepared nurses to 80% by 2020. To achieve this impressive goal, the number of doctorally prepared nurses needs to increase to provide the infrastructure in both academia and the clinical setting to educate baccalaureate nursing students. In the same report, the recommendation was made to double the number of doctorally prepared nurses by 2020.
