Abstract

There is currently a nationwide campaign to address human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention and treatment. The emergency department (ED) is a significant venue in the HIV prevention and treatment campaign. The quality improvement (QI) project was based on the multiple national HIV/AIDS agencies advocacy, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) HIV screening recommendations. The project goal was to increase HIV screening in the emergency department (ED) at Cape Fear Valley by utilizing a targeted screening approach.
