Abstract
The International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) published a position statement on palliative care in October 2015. The purpose of this position statement is to (1) integrate a palliative approach into the comprehensive care of cancer patients, in accordance with need, (2) acknowledge and recognize the unique and critical role of the cancer nurse in assessing and addressing cancer patients' and their caregivers' palliative care needs, and (3) support cancer nurses to adopt an evidence-based, palliative approach to support cancer patients and their caregivers across the entire trajectory of illness.
