Abstract

Our project is focused on improving efficiency and decreasing variability in the ED admission process. Prior to this project our ED admission length of stay was on average 320 minutes and our ED admit delay time (time from decision to admission to patient leaving the ED) was on average 120 minutes, both of which were higher than organizational benchmarks. There were also three different processes for ED admissions which added to the inefficiency in the process.
