Abstract

Research into evidence-based practice (EBP) by on-ground, MSN graduates has been extensive. However, there has been no research to date studying EBP in online, MSN graduates. This exploratory descriptive study was undertaken to begin exploration of any differences or similarities in practice between these two groups and fill this identified gap in the nursing literature. The online graduates were from the program's nursing educator and nursing administration tracks.Findings indicated that online MSN graduates felt confident in their ability to apply EBP in the work setting, understand the value of EBP, and are applying it in practice. Barriers reported by respondents were related to organizational factors such as budget constraints and priorities of management, but time was not the primary barrier to applying EBP as in many previous studies. Facilitators reported by participants were support of peers, colleagues, and administrators.

Description
