A population, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO) question was used to provide the key concepts of my search strategy. "In (P) patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgeries, what is the effect of using (I) a continuous lidocaine infusion (C) compared to normal saline (O) on the severity of postoperative pain scores?"
