Abstract

Delayed umbilical cord clamping is not a new concept, it has been around since Aristotle's time. This practice ended in the 1950s. In recent years the practice of delayed cord clamping has resurfaced because of its many benefits which include prevention of intraventricular hemorrhage in premature infants.
