Abstract

This paper describes the vision of adding a public health authority (PHA) to the existing National Health System. The PHA will oversee disease prevention and health promotion services using a public health orientation with neighborhood-based services, and community/inter-professional collaborations to monitor standards of care and ensure healthcare access for all.
