Abstract
Human interaction with the Internet generates data being used by researchers across a variety of disciplines. This review of the literature aims to define web-scraping as a data collection method, identify disciplines that use web-scraped data, and examine the overall prevalence of web-scraping in recent peer-reviewed literature.
