Abstract
This review synthesizes the findings of 28 empirical studies to form a comprehensive picture of the relationship between breastfeeding and rates of pediatric obesity as seen in US culture. Various protective factors are summarized including maternal microbial transmissions, infant feeding practices, and maternal characteristics such as race and socioeconomic status.
