Sigma Past Publishing - Reflections Magazine

This archival collection comprises print issues of Reflections magazine (1975 to 1999) and its successor, Reflections on Nursing Leadership (2000 to 2005), a member-based magazine published by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma).

In January 1975, the National Council of Sigma Theta Tau established Reflections to provide a “channel of communication for national officers, national committees, and chapters for newsworthy information of national interest.” Reflections played a key role in moving the honor society from a national association to the global organization it is today. As Sigma grew, the publication expanded. By December 1985, Reflections had grown from a four-page, one-color publication to a 16-page, four-color newsletter. In 1992, full-page cover photographs were introduced, and the publication took on the look of a magazine. In 2000, the name was changed to Reflections on Nursing Leadership to more accurately reflect the magazine’s content and purpose: to communicate nurses’ contributions and relevance to the health of people worldwide. The magazine migrated to an online format in 2005.

In 2020, Reflections on Nursing Leadership transitioned to Nursing Centered, an online resource center combining articles, member stories, videos, webinars, and podcasts to create an engaging experience. This mixed-media platform shares stories and nursing information from Sigma nurses and chapters worldwide, from their view, in their voice.
