Entrepreneurship: Creating a business with the framework of nursing knowledge and passion
Abstract
Nurse entrepreneur, Lisa Porter, found herself faced with a problem, was unable to find something to help, and took steps to create the solution. In this session she will share concepts of business idea generation, ways to assess the need for a product, service, or technology through market research, and methods to determine proof of concept. She will outline the Lean Startup method, methods of documentation, and some key aspects of business formation and legal representation. She will highlight the characteristics in great nurses that parallel great business owners and emphasize the importance of collaboration, networking, and mentorship as they enhance the process and business growth.
