Abstract

The purpose of the Nurse Leader Virtual Summit is to provide an avenue for nurse leaders from various Sigma Academies and Nightingale Challenge to disseminate their leadership journey.

This session features Edna Magpantay-Monroe, EdD, APRN, CMDCP Dr. Magpantay-Monroe is the Dean and Professor of Nursing at Hawaii Pacific University. She has been a registered nurse for 36 years and has worked in nursing education for over 25 years. She is a published author with research interests in emotional intelligence, student success and indigenous populations. She has received many awards in education, administration, scholarship and service. She is a dedicated mentor to student research and evidence-based projects. She is also active in service to her communities of interest: nursing, mental health, military and the Filipino population. She believes in value-based education and leadership. Also, she is an active member of Sigma and belongs to three separate chapters. She was the Gamma Psi at large chapter President from 2015-2019. Dr. Magpantay-Monroe has served as a scholar, mentor and adviser for the New Academic Leadership Academy. She is a founding member of the Asian American Pacific Island Nursing Hawaii Chapter and serve as an Education/Research Chair for the Philippine Nurses Association of Hawaii.
